President of Volpatt Construction brings decades of institutional construction experience to AI-powered design compliance company

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — October 15, 2026 — Core Runway Inc., an AI-powered construction compliance intelligence company, today announced the appointment of Raymond A. Volpatt Jr., P.E., President of Pittsburgh-based Volpatt Construction, to its Advisory Board of Directors.

Volpatt brings extensive experience in commercial and institutional construction, with particular expertise in higher education, healthcare, research facilities, and complex renovation projects.

As President of Volpatt Construction, a family-owned general contractor founded in 1991, he has helped establish the company as a trusted construction partner for major institutions throughout Western Pennsylvania. The firm's portfolio includes work for leading universities, healthcare organizations, and cultural institutions, including the restoration of Pittsburgh's historic Carnegie Music Hall.

“Ray brings something enormously valuable to Core Runway: decades of practical experience delivering complex construction projects,” said John Burton, CEO and Co-Founder of Core Runway. “He understands firsthand the consequences of conflicting specifications, incomplete documentation, and design issues that aren't discovered until construction is underway. His insight will help ensure we're solving problems that matter to contractors, architects, and building owners.”

Core Runway is developing an AI-powered compliance intelligence platform that automatically compares institutional design standards against architectural specifications, engineering drawings, and construction submittals.

The technology identifies potential conflicts, missing requirements, and other compliance issues before they result in costly change orders, construction delays, or rework. Every finding is linked to supporting documentation, enabling qualified professionals to review and validate the results.

The company's approach is particularly relevant to large institutional building owners, whose design standards can extend to thousands of pages and must be applied consistently across projects involving multiple architects, engineering consultants, and contractors.

Bringing Construction Expertise into AI Development

Volpatt's appointment strengthens Core Runway's connection to the practical realities of construction project delivery.

As an advisor, he will provide guidance on contractor workflows, construction risk, design coordination, quality assurance, and the commercial adoption of AI technologies across the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

“Construction projects involve thousands of decisions and enormous volumes of technical documentation,” said Volpatt. “The opportunity to identify inconsistencies and potential problems before they reach the construction site is significant. Core Runway is developing technology that could fundamentally improve how project teams manage quality, risk, and compliance. I'm excited to help bring that capability to the industry.”

The appointment comes as Core Runway expands engagement with universities, institutional building owners, architecture firms, and general contractors, with a growing emphasis on preventing construction problems during the design and preconstruction phases.

“AI alone isn't the solution,” added Burton. “It needs to reflect how construction actually works. Having someone with Ray's experience helping guide our development and strategy is an important step as we move from successful technical demonstrations toward broader commercial deployment.”
